Everyone is welcome to join us at our services.
Details of forthcoming services are shown in the Village Newsletter
Sunday Morning Worship at 10.30a.m
This is our main service where the church family gathers for worship. This lasts for about an hour and is followed by refreshments. Our services are led by the minister, Rev. Julia Skitt, members of the congregation, or preachers in the York circuit and sometimes by other visiting preachers.
Children and young people are welcome at all services. The children are normally present for the first 10 minutes of the service .The children will then leave for their own activities in Sunday school.
Our worship embraces a variety of styles and a mixture of modern and traditional songs and hymns. A multi-media projector is used in the services and the words for all songs are displayed onto a screen. Hymn books are available to those requesting them. Songs are normally drawn from Songs of Fellowship Volumes 1 to 4, Hymns and Psalms although songs from other sources and CDs are also used.
The NIV is our preferred Bible translation and the Bible readings are projected onto the screen. Church members are very happy to take part in the service, for example doing readings, drama, dance, prayers. Services are audio recorded.
Holy Communion is celebrated in the morning service one Sunday of each month.
The first Sunday of the month is All Age Worship when the service is particularly appropriate for children and young people and there is ample opportunity for full congregational involvement and participation. This service is usually organised by members of the congregation.
On the fourth Sunday there is a family breakfast church called Shine Together.
Evening Worship at 6.30 pm
Once a month there is an Evening Service. This service is quieter and more reflective than the morning service and is normally a Service of Holy Communion. There is a healing service once a quarter.
