Central to the Christian message is the love that God has for each one of us, regardless of who we are, where we’re from or whether or not we feel deserving of it. All of us have the need to be loved and belong; receiving God’s love is life changing. Jesus is the expression of God’s love for us. Knowing Him makes it easy to return God’s love and to want to introduce Him to others
In the natural world it is easy to be awe-inspired and amazed by all sorts of events – man walking on the moon, the discovery of DNA, the miracle of birth. When we focus on who God is and His love for everyone we can be overwhelmed with amazement, awe and reverence. He is the creator of all we see and know; a God who is always present; a God with whom we can have a relationship. Our response is worship, expressed in love, praise, gratitude and much more. Because we are individuals our responses are very different and reflect who we are. Worship helps us to be more God-centred and less self-centred.
We are made in the image of the creator God and each of us is unique. Collectively we can share in the creativity of others, celebrating our love for God and our enjoyment of each other in a variety of fresh and exciting ways. Gifts of words and poetry, music, art, humour, craft, dance, drama, technology and many other forms of creativity enhance our corporate life.
Our values are grounded on the Bible because it is the primary source in which God reveals Himself to us and communicates with us. It is the means by which we can know Jesus and his teachings better and learn to express our faith in a way that is relevant to the time and culture we live in.
Talking to God and listening to Him form an integral part in building our relationship, both as individuals and corporately. We can come to God, talk to Him, listen to Him, receive from Him any time, anywhere, in a variety of ways. Prayer draws us closer to God; listening to Him challenges and changes us. As with worship there are many creative ways to pray and we will each find ways of engaging with God that is helpful and meaningful for us.
Everyone is unique and loved by God. We want to reflect God’s love not only in what we say but also in what we do. We welcome everyone to share our hospitality. Our desire is to be a church that engages with and supports the people who live in the communities where we live and work. We therefore share our buildings, our resources, our time and our talents.
We aspire to be a church family where Jesus’ love is seen, a place where we are able to grow open, honest and loving relationships. We want to reflect God’s love in how we live and enjoy sharing our lives together, encouraging one another to use the gifts and abilities we have, being hospitable, supporting each other in hard times, and celebrating in good. We respect our differences and embrace diversity. We aim to unite people with each other and with God; establishing and cultivating meaningful and positive relationships as we journey together and grow.
We seek to be good neighbours locally, nationally and globally. We want to show kindness, compassion and generosity and to involve ourselves in issues of equality, fairness and justice. Prompted by God’s Spirit we engage with a whole variety of projects which give a face to this, so that we can introduce people to a life-transforming relationship with Jesus.
